Expanding Our Global Footprint: Costa Rica
We’re excited to share the next chapter of our growth at Surface Solutions Group. To better serve the global medical device market, we are expanding our global manufacturing footprint with the planned establishment of a new operation in Costa Rica. This investment strengthens our ability to support customers with greater capacity, shorter lead times, and the same trusted quality you’ve come to expect from SSG.
This expansion is exactly that—an expansion. The project entails a long‑term investment exceeding US$10 million, including land acquisition and the construction of a new facility. Our Chicago-area operations will remain fully in place and fully supported.
The SSG Costa Rica facility adds capacity and geographic reach, allowing us to be closer to customers in key markets while maintaining consistent processes, controls, and performance standards across our global operations.
The operation will be supported by automated equipment, rigorous quality systems, and regulatory standards aligned with major global medical markets. For our customers, this expansion means increased production capacity, improved responsiveness, and consistent, dependable results.

Expansion Project Updates
Construction of the Costa Rica facility is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with a gradual start-up of operations expected in 2027 following equipment installation, validation, and qualification.
